Cooking with Pork

Does anything beat a roast with crispy crackling or a succulent pulled pork roll? When it comes to cooking pork the prospect of getting it right can seem quite daunting, but fear not, we have pulled together our top five hacks to help you get it right!

1. Pork is incredibly versatile and can be used in a whole host of recipes; Our pulled pork recipe is an ideal way to slow cook a pork shoulder, and our pork stroganoff recipe makes for a quick and easy midweek meal using the tenderloin.

2. Crispy crackling can’t be beaten on Sunday roast! Making sure the fat is dry prior to cooking is key, if you are pressed for time a hairdryer works wonders to dry the fat prior to cooking! Avoid covering the skin while cooking or you will end up with soggy crackling.

3. A pork roast is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, pick either leg or shoulder cuts for the best roasting results:
Cook on high heat (220c) for 30 minutes, then reduce to 180C/Gas 4/fan 160C for the remaining time.
To calculate total cooking time allow for 35 minutes per 500g, plus an extra 35 minutes. Ensure your pork is cooked by taking a temperature reading with a cooking thermometer. The pork should be 65-70C.

4. Make the most of your leftovers by cooking up a delicious fake-away! Use your leftovers to create a Mexican inspired pork taco or add to spicy ramen. (Add recipe for this!)

5. Top Tip! Brush your Pork Chops with oil before grilling to get a delicious finish with no stick!
